My fascination with stones began when I was five years old. After receiving a rock tumbler, I spent countless hours collecting and polishing rocks, then carefully gluing my finished stones into pre-made pendant settings to create my very first pieces of jewellery. I never imagined that childhood hobby would grow into a lifelong career.
At the age of 16, I began a high school apprenticeship placement with a goldsmith, where I discovered the artistry and precision of fine jewellery. That experience confirmed what I already knew, I had found my calling. More than 27 years later, I remain passionate about creating, restoring, and preserving jewellery that holds meaning for the people who wear it.
To build on that early experience, I pursued formal education in jewellery arts and gemmology across Canada and the United States. I studied Craft and Design at Canadore College in North Bay, Ontario; Gemmology at E.G.M. in Montreal, Quebec; Jewellery Methods at George Brown College in Toronto; and advanced Goldsmithing and Gem Setting at the Revere Academy in San Francisco.
Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work as a production artist for renowned Canadian artists Sid Dickens and Karyn Chopik, where I honed my skills in precision craftsmanship and attention to detail. I have also worked as a goldsmith for several respected jewellery stores in Vancouver and Ottawa while continuing to grow my own business and expand my expertise.
Today, I am proud to own and operate my workshop/ boutique at 94 Gore Street East in Perth, Ontario. From my bench, I specialize in custom jewellery design, expert repairs, restorations, resizing, stone setting, and transforming cherished heirlooms into pieces that can be enjoyed for generations to come.
I believe jewellery is more than an accessory, it tells a story. Whether I am creating a one-of-a-kind engagement ring, restoring a treasured family heirloom, or repairing a favourite piece, every project is approached with the same care, precision, and passion that first inspired me as a five-year-old with a rock tumbler.
It is a privilege to create and care for jewellery that will be worn, loved, and passed down for generations.
Appraisals
I appraise jewellery and coins to determine their value, assess their condition and recommend any necessary repairs. I also catalog family estate collections, creating detailed inventories for insurance, estate planning and inheritance.
